Location: Full Remote (Malaysia-based) Experience: 3–5 years
About the Role
Design and build scalable backend systems and APIs for enterprise applications. Work with modern backend technologies and cloud infrastructure to deliver robust solutions for Japanese and ASEAN clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs
- Design database schemas and optimize queries
- Build microservices architecture
- Deploy and manage applications on AWS/GCP/Azure
- Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices
- Monitor application performance and optimize bottlenecks
- Write unit and integration tests
- Create technical documentation
- Collaborate with frontend engineers and Japanese stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of backend development experience
- Strong expertise in one or more: Node.js (NestJS, Express, Fastify), Python (Django, FastAPI), Go, Rust
- Experience with Laravel or NestJS frameworks — plus
- Expert in SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis)
- Understanding of API design principles and best practices
- Knowledge of authentication protocols (JWT, OAuth, SAML)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Version control with Git
- Strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Japanese language proficiency (N3 or higher) — plus
- Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
- Knowledge of caching strategies (Redis, Memcached)
- Microservices architecture experience
- DevOps skills (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with serverless architecture (AWS Lambda)
- Prior work with Japanese clients or companies
